The team and residents at Care UK’s Appleby House care home on Longmead Road were joined by special guest, Sylvie Silver, executive director of National Activity Providers Association (NAPA), who officially revealed the suites’ new names. 

The team at Appleby House decided to rename the suites having observed the positive response from residents enjoying regular art sessions. The new suite names incorporate artists from all around the world, and will now be known as: Da Vinci, Renoir, Monet, Van Gogh and Picasso.

Residents’ family and friends were invited to join the celebrations, and were kept entertained throughout the day by local harpist, Catrin Meek.

Home manager at Appleby House, Shona Bradbury, said: “It is a very exciting time for Appleby House. We were delighted so many people joined us as we marked this important milestone, and would like to say a special thank you to Sylvie Silver.

“We have built a warm, welcoming community here, and we are thrilled to be able to announce the new suite names. Art has become a much loved activity by all of the residents at Appleby House, and with so many wonderful pieces of art displayed around the home, it made sense to rename the suites after famous artists from around the world.”

Sylvie Silver, executive director of NAPA, said: “I was delighted to be invited to reveal the new suite names at Appleby House. At NAPA, we are passionate about providing exciting and stimulating activities for resident, so I’m happy to see that amongst the wide range of activities that take place every week at the home, residents have taken a particular interest in art.”
