Christ's School Year 8 & 9 Basketball Team have triumphed at the London School Games, winning the Under 14 Basketball tournament. This result is an incredible, historic achievement for the School and for Richmond Borough. Of around 200 school teams from 33 boroughs across London who entered the competition, Christ's came out on top.

In order to qualify for the London School Games the team had to first win the Richmond Borough Tournament, beating teams from all of the other Richmond and Twickenham Schools. Then, in the qualifying rounds, the boys overcame Dulwich College and Ark Academy Brent to make it to the London Finals held at The Score Centre in Leyton, on Wednesday 29th March 2017.

In the final Christ's confidently overcame two renowned basketball academies to lift the trophy - dispatching Barking Abbey School 101-60 in the semi final and Lampton Academy, who they beat comfortably 79-67, in the final.

This result is testimony to the hard work and dedication of the whole squad - Ridley Shema, Stephen Asante, Peter Asante, Mike Owusu-Mantey, Michael Belle, Sean Hogan, Leon Byrne-Adim, Edward Sykes, Tom McKiernan, Aleksa Verusevic, Deivi Uruci and Ryan Suqi.

On the same evening, Christ's Year 7 basketball team became Richmond Borough champions, comfortably beating Teddington School 18-3 in the final.

These results demonstrate how, under the leadership of Head of Physical Education, Mr Thomas Smith, sport at Christ's School continues to go from strength to strength.
