Haneen Zoabi, a Palestinian woman who is a member of Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, will be speaking in Richmond on Sunday 22 January from 7 – 9pm.

This rare opportunity to hear an amazingly brave politician will take place at Richmond Adult Community College, Parkshot, Richmond TW9 2RE.

The two state solution Elected to the Knesset in 2009 Zoabi has spoken out on important issues. She considers the two state solution for Israel/Palestine to be unrealistic and advocates a single state with Jews and Palestinians having full equality.

Deaths on the Mavi Marmara Zoabi took part in the aid convoy to Gaza in 2010 and was on board the Mavi Marmara when members of the Israeli Defence Force boarded the ship and nine people were killed. When Zoabi, speaking later in the Knesset, called for an investigation she was shouted down, threatened with physical attack by a fellow Knesset member, and subsequently received numerous death threats.

Refusing to be silenced, in spite of repeated attempts to try and silence her by removing parliamentary privileges and even trying to remove her Israeli citizenship, she has continued to speak out.

Sunday 22 January provides a chance to hear from Zoabi directly, and put questions to her. The event is organised by Richmond and Kingston Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

Tickets can be booked at Eventbrite MP for Twickenham, Dr Tania Mathias, who is on the Palestine All-Party Parliamentary Group has been invited.
