A MAN had to move after being barred from his home for carrying out noisy night-time DIY as part of a harassment campaign against his neighbours.

Richard Oluwadare, 41, can be arrested if he goes within 500 yards of his previous home of six years in Eastbourne Road, East Ham, under the terms of a unique injunction.

A family living close by claim to have been driven from their home by Oluwadare and other neighbours have complained of racist abuse, spitting and excessive noise dating back to 1999.

Despite repeated warnings about his behaviour and being served a noise abatement order, Oluwadare failed to change his behaviour.

During one mediation session, a neighbour claimed his six-year-old son was scarred when he saw Oluwadare or heard his voice.

Night worker Oluwadare complained about noise from his neighbours, which appeared to be the everyday sounds of domestic activity.

Decisive action was taken after an environmental health officer witnessed him deliberately banging, stamping and spitting on neighbours' windows and property.

An indefinite injunction, which forced Oluwadare and his wife to move, was served at the Central London Criminal Court to protect his former neighbours.

It was recommended that Oluwadare seek professional help to manage his anger.

Mayoral advisor for anti-social behaviour, Cllr Ian Corbett, said later: "This man made the lives of three families a misery and now has had to pay the price.

"Bullying behaviour like this will not be tolerated, we all have the right to live in a civilised society. "
