Helicopter scrambled after calls of woman in water at Teddington

Police have scrambled a helicopter to search for a swimmer who may have got into trouble in the Thames.


The Metropolitan Police said a witness called 999 saying they thought they had seen a woman in the water in Teddington.


A spokeswoman from the Metropolitan Police said: “Somebody called up saying they thought someone was swimming in the river and they weren’t sure if the person was in distress or not.


“It has not yet been ascertained if there is anyone in the water.”
