ART SHOW Dr Vincent Cable, MP for Twickenham officially opened the Richmond Art Society's Spring Show at the Vestry House in Paradise Road, Richmond. He was welcomed by the society's new chairman, artist Angela Kilenyi, and spent some time inspecting more than 120 exhibits. He congratulated the society and its members on their work while also making some typically forthright comments on the subject of adult education funding. The show runs every day until Bank Holiday Monday, all the pictures and ceramics are for sale and admission is free. TIMES TRAVEL Bank Holiday travel: Where possible the Highways Agency (HA) will be completing or temporarily suspending major roadworks on England's motorways and major A roads for the Bank Holiday weekend.

The project has been designed to allow the road to stay open to traffic during the busiest times of the day - at least two lanes of traffic in both directions will be kept open between 6am and 10.30pm while the work takes place. Some night work 10.30am-6am reducing traffic to one lane each way.
