A grandmother who assaulted three police officers in Teddington has been ordered to pay compensation.

Amanda White, of Bethany Waye in Feltham, assaulted three police officers in Teddington on July 24, after they attempted to arrest her partner.

White and her partner had been drinking in a pub in Teddington, when staff called the police, reporting that Miss White’s partner had assaulted her.

She denied this happened and the couple moved to another pub, which is where Miss White said 12 police officers surrounded the couple and tried to arrest her partner.

The 43-year-old mum of four and grandmother of one pleaded guilty to obstructing two constables in the execution of duty and three charges of common assault by beating.

Prosecuting, John Shepherd said: “Police were called to a pub in Teddington to an incident. At that location they found Miss White with some other people – one of the people she was with was a man the police were interested in. She tried to obstruct the police from arresting him through her arms.

“Fortunately two of the police officers sustained no injuries, and the one who did sustained some injury, was PC Kenny, who had reddening to the arms.”

White’s defence lawyer said there was no violence used to obstruct the police officers and no weapon was found on her client.

At South Western Magistrates’ Court on August 8, White was fined £50 for each assault, ordered to pay compensation of £50 to PC Kenny, pay £85 in prosecution costs and a £15 fine to the court.
