There's a real buzz of excitement in the water polo arena. And intrigue as well for a sport that many people know little about. The atmosphere is being cranked up and the seats that rise high on either side of the pool are filling up. We're almost set for GB v Serbia.

"There are plenty of fans wearing colours of all nations queuing at Stratford international but the mood is celebratory and everyone is in high spirits. Great to see how the Olympics is bringing  everyone together."

The Olympics isn't just about sports of course, and there are lots of treats on offer for visitors to the park.

Restaurants and communal areas were packed out this lunchtime and the London 2012 store was doing brisk business.

Denise Mann, down from Bristol to watch the handball, decided it was a good move to get an umbrella.

She said: "To be honest with you, we'd never even heard of handball before the tickets went on sale.

"Now we know all the rules and really can't wait to get started."

Greenwich University student Husayn Rosowsky has spoken of his disappointment after going out of the men's foil in the first round.

He said: "I had a hamstring injury and didn't think it would bother me but as soon as I did my first lunge I could feel it.

"It happened about a week ago but I hoped it wouldn't affect me."

He added: "It's just the start though, we have the team event on Sunday. I just hope the injury won't be an issue then."

Olympic reporter Mark Chandler has some handy travel advice to people heading to the park:

The Central Line was a nightmare this morning, with a broken down train meaning most services only went as far as Liverpool Street rather than taking people to Stratford.

With hundreds of fans trying to get on the crowded Jubilee Line instead, a better idea in future situations would be to try and pick up the DLR to get to the Olympic Park and other venues.

Though the service is more infrequent, I travelled on the DLR this morning and there were seats aplenty.
