Gaining the rights to perform their own version of a West End play on school grounds has been a creative highlight of one Richmond school’s year.
Talented young performers from Christ’s school, in Queens Road, performed Zorro the Musical between Thursday, June 21, and Saturday, June 23, after becoming the first school to be given permission to recreate the show.
Sophie Brown, 14, who played the female lead of the feisty gypsy girl Inez, said it was exciting to know they were the only ones to do the show and to be able to have the chance to play the original Gipsy Kings music as well.
She said: “It is so great to be part of it, the musical is so full of life and so enjoyable.
“It is a privilege to be able to do Zorro [as our school play] as usually with schools they do the same sort of plays all the time.”
