Twickenham’s town centre manager is urging local businesses to join a bread campaign group that really cares about its loaves.
The Real Bread Campaign brings together bakers, independent millers, cereal growers and anyone who cares about bread in the aim of improving the quality and farming of bread.
Twickenham already has a weekly farmers’ market, a wide choice of restaurants, fishmongers and greengrocers, and most recently an organic butcher, but is missing a real bread bakery, the campaign group said.
Twickenham town centre manager Natasha Carr said: “Twickenham’s just full of people who love high-quality food, and we’d love to embrace the passion of a real bread baker, with plenty of caring business support.”
The Real Bread Campaign is part of charity Sustain and is funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Local Food scheme and the Sheepdrove Trust.
Chris Young from the Real Bread Campaign said: “We think that every community should have a real bread bakery and hope that we can help Twickenham find its true loaf.”
