Woman dies after being struck by train

A woman has been killed after being struck by a train at Richmond station.

Police were called at about 10.30am and the station was closed. The incident is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended but the woman, believed to be 49-years-old and from Twickenham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the woman’s identity and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The train involved was the 10.03am Waterloo to Kingston service.

Lines were handed back to Network Rail at 12.23pm and train services were running but with some delays.
