After a seemingly never-ending winter filled with ice and snow, spring flowers have finally found their way into bloom.
Crocuses are among the flowers creating blankets of colour in Kew Gardens this week.
Although severe weather caused a delay in flowering this year, with daffodils not making an appearance at Kew until as late as February 26, experts have told gardeners not to worry as their plants will flower at the same time instead of being spaced out.
Sandra Bell, a scientist at Kew, said: “It means there will be so much more in flower at the same time and so much colour and impact in gardens. In many ways it is a return to normal.”

It is, however, a great shame that the local LibDems in Kew will not comment on the curent serious financial plight of the Gardens...especially as they run Richmond Council and control some of the public's money.
I hope an incoming administration at York House on 7th May will give some indication of any support for the Gardens once the elections are over. I suppose it is too much to ask for the LibDem councillors in Kew ard to tell us some of their views in these columns?
