Hampton Traffic Garage sergeant hailed for work on Brixton crash

A traffic officer who led a team investigating a fatal crash in Brixton has been rewarded for his hard work.

Sergeant Peter Mosdell, of Hampton Traffic Garage, was presented with the annual Livia Award for outstanding professionalism in collision investigation and dealing with bereaved families, at ceremony last Wednesday.

The award was presented to Sgt Mosdell for his work in investigating the death of Naomi Benjamin, 34, from Brixton, who was killed after she was hit by a Serco van transporting 11 prisoners in April last year. The Hampton-based team put together a case for the Crown Prosecution Service against the van driver, although he was found not guilty.

Sgt Mosdell said: “It was difficult for me to accept the award. I lead a team of half a dozen people and it was a team effort.”
