A Teddington wildlife lover is running the London Marathon for a local charity.
James Simcox, who is supporting Twickenham-based charity Environment Trust, currently lives in Teddington with his wife Berny, their two teenage daughters and two dogs.
Because he grew up around here and wants to make sure that the places that he loves are still around for his children to enjoy, he’s willing to 'run his socks off' for the cause.
The Environment Trust has been working away for more than 30 years preserving and protecting local built and natural heritage.
It aims to help people connect with nature, not only to improve their wellbeing, but because the conservation work they help the Trust with reduces flood risk, improves air quality, helps prevent global warming and increases the number of pollinators.
James, described as a 'top volunteer' by the charity, revealed that running the London Marathon was on his bucket-list after the Environment Trust won a place via the charity ballot.
James recently ran the Hampton Court Marathon in the snow, knocking six minutes off his personal best.
