A restaurant due to open in Teddington has applied for a late licence to sell alcohol, prompting objections from residents.

One One Four Restaurant, from the people behind No 97 in Surbiton, is moving into 114 Teddington High Street.

The owners have applied to sell alcohol from 11am to midnight Tuesday to Saturday, and from 11am to 11pm Sunday and Monday.

They have also applied to stay open until 12.30am Tuesday to Saturday, which residents are worried will result in noise at 1am on some days.

All 12 objections are concerned with potential anti-social behaviour- crime and noise late at night.

One One Four, like No 97 in Surbiton, is described as a “modern European restaurant” and is also expected to have a gin bar, leaving residents concerned more emphasis will be on drinking than eating.

One resident said the late night licence would “seriously disturb our, and other children’s sleep on a regular basis”.

Another said they “frequently” saw pools of vomit on the ground already as a result of drinkers in the area.

They said: “Broken glass from bottles and glasses taken outside the premises by smokers is a common occurrence.

“Also, there are not infrequent puddles of vomit to be found on the road or pavement.

“These are invariably after late night drinking rather than daytime drinking or dining.

“The route down Udney Park Road from Teddington High Street is heavily used by children attending Collins Primary School and exposure to hazards presented by broken glass and puddles of vomit is likely to be increased by later/more licensed premises.”

Another objector said: “I am genuinely concerned for the safety of my young family if they get a late night licence.”

No 97 has 226 reviews on Trip Advisor, 164 of which are ‘excellent’.

The application will be decided at a licensing sub-committee next Thursday, March 22.
