There will be more disruption on the rail networks as protesting South Western Railway staff hold fresh strikes today.

Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) members will walk out for 24 hours following action on Monday (January 8), with another stoppage due on January 12.

There will be no service from Virginia Water to Weybridge, although replacement buses will be available.

South Western Railway managing director Andy Mellors said: "Once again I am having to write to you about impending industrial action by the RMT union.

"As I am sure you are aware the union executive has announced three further strikes for our network on the 8, 10 and 12 January.

"They have also called strikes on Northern, Greater Anglia and Merseyrail on these dates, with a single strike on the 8th for Southern."

SWR plans to run more than 70 percent of its usual weekday service of 1,700 trains but most routes will see a reduced service, and there will be rail replacement buses and tickets will be accepted on other train companies.
