The clock at St John's Hampton Wick church is back.
Installed in 1900, the timepiece at the church in Church Grove has not been telling the time for the past seven years because, vicar Rev Jerry Field said, 'we have been unable to wind it as our insurers would not cover the slightly perilous climb up the tower to wind it'.
But now a new electronic mechanism has been installed to the original clock and it back in working order, chiming from 7am to 10pm daily.
Rev Field said: "We hope will add to the special sense of place and community that Hampton Wick has.”
