Kew, Ham and Petersham residents will soon have the opportunity to drill their local councillors on issues close to their heart as Question Time come to the area.

This is the third of several Village Planning Question Times, the first of which kicked off in Mortlake on October 31.

The evening will start with an opportunity to meet the councillors, followed by a presentation from the panel on village planning and local priorities and then Question Time itself.

Residents can submit questions in advance, and these will be discussed in the first 45 minutes. The second hour will be opened to the floor.

Councillor Pamela Fleming, Richmond Council cabinet member for environment, said: “The events in Mortlake and Whitton and Heathfield were a great opportunity for us to hear about a variety of issues concerning people.

“And, we have taken away a number of actions to look into – ranging from investigating an overhanging hedge, raising the profile of how residents can report front gardens that have been converted into parking spaces, improving signage about those who flout the law and cycle on the pavement.

“Of course there were big issues such as the Stag Brewery and Turing House. And, for both we committed to making sure that the organisations involved ensure that local people are informed of their plans for both sites and really engage with local communities during consultations.

“Our next stop is Kew, Ham and Petersham. Again, we will be there to listen and engage with local people. We look forward to hearing from as many residents as possible at these Question Times.”

There will be two events; one in partnership with the Ham and Petersham Neighbourhood Forum at Grey Court School on Tuesday, November 21 at 6pm.

The other will take place in Kew at St Winefride’s Church Hall at 6pm on Thursday, November 30.

Each event will be streamed live on the Council’s Facebook account. And residents unable to attend can ‘Tweet’ their questions to the panellists during the event by using #VillageQT to the @LBRUT account.
