Two Richmond police officers have raised more than £1,200 for charity after taking part in Richmond Runfest.

John Evans and Peter McMahon ran the Richmond Half Marathon in support of The Poppy Factory, which has been supporting veterans with health conditions or impairments since 1922.

The charity works with businesses across the country to provide opportunities and ongoing employment support for hundreds of disabled veterans, of all ages and from all Services.

The Runfest started in the World Heritage Site of Kew Gardens, with the course takes runners past the famous Palm House and Pagoda before heading out besides the River Thames.

They continued on to Teddington Lock, finishing in Richmond’s Old Deer Park.

Richmond Borough Commander Parm Sandhu said: “Both John and Peter performed brilliantly during the run and are a credit to the Met.

“The fact that they put in the time and effort to train for this event in their own time, as well as the fund raising element, is exceptional.”
