A new exhibition from two local residents opened at Orleans House Gallery’s Stables Gallery last week.

This exhibition showcases a selection of artworks arising from the Helen Taylor-Robinson and Clive Robinson’s lifelong involvement in writing and photography, all seemingly having something of the quality of ‘grave goods’.

Grave goods are objects left with bodies in prehistory and ancient graves.

The Robinsons said: “Like us all grave goods are corporeal and like us they decay and disappear, although they may survive for much longer than we do.

"This gives them the rather wonderful property that, for as long as there is the possibility that they may be found, they continue to contain the potential to evoke something in someone who may know nothing of their existence, or indeed of the feelings or ideas that will be evoked, until the moment of discovery.”

The exhibition runs from between August 11 and October 2, and is composed of framed photographs, larger composite images, mobiles and moving images.

They will be organising a number of events during August and September hoping to involve children, families and adults in their exhibition and with themes and activities associated with it.

Mr Robinson’s photographs are for sale, as are books and recordings of Mrs Taylor-Robinson’s poetry.

Cllr Meena Bond Cabinet Member for Arts, Culture and Sport said: “This is another fascinating and insightful exhibition at Orleans House Gallery and I encourage all residents to take the opportunity to see it while they can.”
