A large tree fell on a parked car in Hampton Court Way after torrential rains and thunderstorms lashed London and Surrey overnight.

Firefighters from Twickenham and Surrey were called to the A309 Hampton Court Way at 7am, a spokesman for Surrey Fire and Rescue said.

Commuters reported seeing the fallen tree near the Scilly Isles roundabout.

No one was trapped in the car, the spokesman added, but the road was blocked.
