A woman was slashed by a man with a knife in Teddington this morning.

The woman was walking along Fairfax Road near the junction with Kingston Road at about 6.50am when she was assaulted by the man with a “bladed weapon”.

She was left with cuts to the face, neck and arms, and was taken to hospital, according to Twickenham’s chief inspector Hannah Wheeler.

Chief Inspector Wheeler said the attacker was a black man, about 6ft 2ins tall with a medium build, and wore a black hat, black scarf and dark clothing.

He ran in the direction of Kingston Road after the attack.

She said: “This attack is very unusual and has no known motive at the moment.”

The woman, who is 21, has been discharged from hospital.

Police have taken swabs from the woman and have some CCTV footage, which is being reviewed.
