A new controlled parking zone (CPZ) could be implemented in North Richmond following requests to the council.

A consultation, which includes roads near Chalkers Corner on both sides of Clifford Avenue and roads between Lower Mortlake Road and the railway line, is open until Friday, December 18.

The purpose of the consultation is to confirm whether there is more than 50 per cent support for a CPZ, which could ease concerns from residents that non-residential parking results in a lack of spaces for the community.

Richmond Council’s cabinet member for highways, Stephen Speak, said residents’ views are vital in shaping the council’s final decision.

He said: "There are different underlying causes for the parking problems across the area and I will be carefully evaluating the results of this consultation. "If there is sufficient positive support the Council will develop and promote firmer proposals for a second stage consultation."
