Labour’s London mayoral hopeful David Lammy brings his campaign to Richmond next week as part of his city-wide tour.

The contender to replace Boris Johnson in next year’s election will hold a rally at the side of Richmond Bridge at 8.15am on July 8.

He will speak to voters who live in Richmond Park constituency, whose MP Zac Goldsmith also hopes to stand for Mayor of London.

Mr Lammy said: “Richmond is not a traditionally Labour borough so it might not be top of the list of visits for other candidates, but I want to be a Mayor for all Londoners.”

The visit is part of his 20 boroughs in 20 days tour.

He added: “Richmond has the highest rate of cycling of any borough in London.

“So I don’t need to tell you about what it’s like to negotiate rush hour traffic on a bike.

“The worrying thing is that the number of scare stories are putting people off commuting. That is why as Mayor I will ban HGVs from London’s streets during rush hour.”
