A "disruptive passenger" was pinned down by two members of the public and arrested at Teddington station on Tuesday morning.

The 7.57am train to Waterloo was delayed and British Transport Police (BTP) were called at 8.36am to reports of an altercation between two men on the platform.

A 34-year-old man from Twickenham was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and was further arrested on suspicion of common assault following an interview.

David Holt, a property investment specialist, saw two men pinning the man down on platform two.

He said: "These guys were just holding down this chap and he was shouting ‘you attacked me’, but they were shouting ‘you attacked me’.

"It was a bit like a citizen’s arrest. Nobody looked hurt or anything from what I saw."

A BTP spokesman said the man has been released on police bail until Tuesday May 19.
