The District Line was temporarily suspended between Wimbledon and Putney Bridge this morning due to a fault with the track at East Putney.

Severe overcrowding was reported at Wimbledon Station since the service was suspended.

A TfL spokesman said tickets are valid on local buses and South West Trains.

But it is likely to be of little comfort to commuters who have faced repeated disruptions on the District Line.

Last weekend the service was suspended between Wimbledon and Earl's Court due to engineering works.

There will be no service between Richmond and Turnham Green this weekend due to track improvement works.

With no indication of when the service would resume, commuters resorted to expressing their frustrations on Twitter.
