A new book has been released, detailing the lives of one of the most prominent families in Richmond in the late 18th century.
Historian Dr David Wilson wrote Johan Zoffany RA and the Sayer Family of Richmond, to tell the story of artistic supremacy and commercial success along with family dynasty, topographical and architectural splendour and royal connections.
At a talk organised by the Museum of Richmond, Dr Wilson will explain the circumstances behind Zoffany's painting and how it unlocks the complex history of the three characters it captures.
Natascha Wintersinger, curator at the Museum of Richmond, said: "It will be fascinating to learn more about this eighteenth century artist’s connection to Richmond."
The talk takes place at St Mary Magdalene Church, Paradise Road, Richmond on Monday, March 16.
