A respite care centre chef attended a reception hosted by Samantha Cameron at 10 Downing Street last week.

Elizabeth Muir, who works at Homelink in Whitton, was invited as Twickenham Conservative parliamentary candidate Tania Mathias' nomination as a charity champion.

Mrs Muir, who has worked at the centre for 18 years, said: "Homelink is a small local charity and without doubt is a must needed and valuable service to the community. My time there is precious to me."

The Prime Minister's wife Mrs Cameron said: "Her amazing work is changing the lives of individuals and families across Twickenham and it was an honour to celebrate her work at the reception for charity champions."

Dr Mathias added: "Homelink is a brilliant respite day centre and Elizabeth has been with the centre for 18 years.

"Elizabeth is a chef there and is passionate about fresh food that is cooked to a professional standard for the people using the day centre.

"I have eaten there and I have had some of the best meals in Twickenham at Homelink - how great that those who attend the day centre have this week in week out thanks to staff like Elizabeth."
