A woman who posed as a charity collector outside Twickenham stadium will have to carry out a 200-hour community order as punishment.

Katie Smith, 33, of Tower Hamlets, pleaded guilty at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court at an earlier hearing before being sentenced on January 21 at the same court.

She posed as a charity collector, complete with money boxes and stickers, outside the ground during England international fixtures with Samoa and Australia on November 22 and 29.

Smith also pleaded guilty to fraud-related charges after being caught committing similar crimes at Waterloo station on August 12, pretending to collect for Great Ormond Street children’s charity.

As well as the community order, Smith must also pay £180 in costs.
