A petition to create a footbridge at a dangerous level crossing in Barnes has attracted more than 1,200 supporters.
Campaigners want Network Rail to prioritise the provision of a new footbridge at the White Hart Lane level crossing to help Barnes Primary School pupils cross safely.
The online petition was set up in November by Richmond Park MP Zac Goldsmith.
Mr Goldsmith said: "I have no doubt that residents would benefit enormously from a footbridge over the White Hart Lane crossing in Barnes, partly for safety reasons but also because of the disproportionate waiting times.
"The petition shows that a very substantial number of residents agree, and in light of that, I have asked Network Rail to consider again the case for a new bridge."
