A vulnerable man whose home was targeted by alcoholics and homeless people has obtained a closure notice, making it a criminal offence for unwanted guests to visit.
The man, who lives in Broom Road, Teddington, was frequently threatened and assaulted by the unwanted visitors and the antisocial behaviour was affecting the quality of life of his neighbours.
The Metropolitan Police obtained a closure order using new antisocial behaviour legislation on December 15 2014, and it will run until March 15 this year unless extended.
The order excludes anyone from the premises apart from the victim, immediate family members and members of social or emergency services.
It is the first occasion this power, under the new antisocial behaviour act 2014, has been used in Richmond.
A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We hope it will serve as an example to anyone looking to target vulnerable residents in this manner."
