The people of Whitton braved the rain on Sunday for the annual Whitton High Street Christmas lights switch-on.
Runners still took part in the fun-run at noon while 40 stallholders sold their wares.
In total, 5,000 people attended the event which saw many stalls and rides open to those young and old.
Whitton Town Centre manager Bridget Clements said: "By about 4pm the rain eased off so that we could watch Kneller Hall Band performing carols and see the Christmas lights being switched on in the dry.
"They then made the most of the rides and many stalls up and down the High Street before the road was re-opened at 6pm.
"In the end we had about 5,000 people coming to our Christmas Lights switch-on and fun day which is about the same as last year.
"Sunday’s event demonstrates Whitton’s great community spirit and support for Whitton High Street, which makes all of the effort worthwhile."
