A cyclist who was hit by a bus in Richmond in September has been discharged from hospital, police confirmed this week.

The 21-year-old from Newham was hit near Richmond Bridge at the junction with Hill Street at 8.45pm on September 7.

The male cyclist was treated for a head injury before being taken to St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, as a priority.

He remained a critical condition for some time, and one month later was moved from the intensive therapy unit to the major trauma unit.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed on Tuesday, November 25, the cyclist was discharged on October 30 after spending seven-and-a-half weeks in hospital.

An officer from the Met Police's collision unit met with the victim on November 12 to return his bicycle to him.

A Met Police spokesman said a report on the accident was being prepared to decide the next steps of the investigation.
