The community nominated its health heroes for the awards and more than 200 members of staff from across the two boroughs attended the awards evening at the Stoop on Thursday, November 6.

Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH) NHS Trust's annual awards give recognition and reward staff for their continued commitment, innovation and hard work in the past 12 months.

The awards ceremony was opened by Stephen Swords, chairman of HRCH, before chief executive Frank Sims presented awards to winners and runners up.

Mr Swords said: “This is an excellent opportunity to champion and showcase the skills, dedication and commitment of our staff.

“Every week I hear from patients and members of the public about the high standard of care they have had from our staff and wanting to give recognition to those who go that extra mile and make their experience of care in the NHS such a good one. I am very proud of our staff.”

Among the winners were Liz Riedlinger, matron for Teddington Memorial Hospital, who was named clinician of the year, and Gail Goddard, district nurse for Whitton, who won the beyond the call of duty category.

Ms Riedlinger was nominated for demonstrating a courageous commitment to her service, colleagues and patients and embracing complex challenges in the past year.

She was also recognised by her team for a willingness to listen while balancing the increasing demands and expectations placed on hear.

Ms Goddard also had a number of nominations for her category in recognition for all she does for the people of Whitton, with one nominator saying they have never met anyone who has such a commitment to the best patient care.

This year’s event also marked the long service of many NHS staff in the two boroughs.
