Allotmenteers are celebrating after a £1,000 grant helped replace their trading hut.
The hut at the Manor Road Allotment site in North Sheen had fallen into disrepair and the organisation was awarded funding from the Heathrow Community Fund's grants programme.
The fund is part of an independent grant-making charity set up by the airport's owners to support and strengthen communities close to the airport.
Funds given to community groups come from an annual donation from the airport, donations from passengers and fines imposed on aircraft that breach noise limits.
Tim McGough, chairman of the Richmond Allotment Holders' Association, said the new shed project was a fantastic example of the allotment community coming together, after it was built by people who volunteered their time and skills.
He added: "Members now have an excellent facility to make their purchases with products such as fertiliser and seeds, being on site negating those extra car journeys and helping reduce pollution.
"Most plot holders are also keen on recycling and produce compost from decaying vegetable matter. It will also provide a great venue for topical gardening tips from our resident experts."
An opening ceremony for the new trading hut takes place at noon on November 23.
