A teacher landed the catch of a lifetime earlier this month with this 46lb 10oz carp.

Daniel Leney, who teaches maths and science at Twickenham Academy, caught the monster common carp at Berkshire’s Horton Complex on November 8.

The 39-year-old, who lives in Hampton, said he has spent 30 years trying to land one this size, so to finally catch such a huge specimen is a dream come true.

He said: “The fish led me on a bit of a Nantucket Sleigh ride once I’d got him on the line, but I managed to drag it up in the end.

“The kids at school always ask me about my fishing, and it’s great to be able to tell them about this.”
