More than 5,000 workers in Richmond would stop paying income tax if plans to raise the personal tax allowance are agreed.
The Conservative Party said it planned to raise the amount workers are able to earn before paying tax to £12,500, meaning 5,210 people in the Richmond Park constituency will stop paying income tax altogether.
Under the proposals, the threshold at which people pay the 40p rate of tax would also be increased to £50,000 by 2020.
Zac Goldsmith, MP for Richmond Park, said: "I strongly believe people should be allowed to keep more of what they’ve worked hard to earn, and I am pleased my party is committed to lifting a further 5,210 people in my constituency out of income tax altogether.
"It’s crazy to think that in 2010, people were being taxed on incomes of £6,500, only to be reimbursed further down the line in increased benefits."
The personal allowance before paying income tax is set to rise to £10,500 from April 2015.
