Richmond Council has agreed to provide Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP) with six affordable rented homes in the borough.

The council has been working to purchase existing properties on the open market and repair them.

It is ploughing a further £250,000 into the RHP programme, having already supported it with £500,000 in grants since 2012.

Council cabinet member for housing Councillor Lisa Blakemore said: “Affordable housing is a key issue in our borough. “With our high property prices residents tell us that it is one of their concerns.”

RHP development director Geoff Fox said: “The funding from the council is vital and we look forward to delivering more housing across the borough with the support of Richmond Council.”
