A meeting about the pollution of the River Crane will be chaired by Twickenham MP Vince Cable later this month.

Dr Cable will act as chairman for River Crane - Environmental Asset or Urban Drain? at the Whitton Community Centre.

Until recently the river, which runs through five London boroughs, had a thriving angling community but two major pollution incidents in three years killed most of the fish.

Rob Gray, from Friends of the River Crane, said: "This meeting is an opportunity for the public to put their concerns regarding the river directly to those involved and for those organisations to set out their plans for how the river will be improved over the next decade."

The meeting, at the centre in Percy Road, is free to attend and will run from 7pm to 8pm on October 31. To ask a question at the meeting please email it to info@force.org.uk with your name.
