A school in East Sheen is the centre point in a new novel written by a teacher who previously worked in the borough.

Rydon Hall, written by Alex Games, is set in a fictionalised version of East Sheen and focuses on a school trip to Egypt, which is on the brink of revolution during the Arab Spring of 2011.

The story follows a school teacher who finds one male pupil almost unbearable, but is strongly attracted to his mother.

The former Evening Standard features writer, who now works at Tiffin School, said he was worried the novel might offend some at his former workplace.

The 50-year-old author said: “I had been teaching at this prep school, and as all teachers will know, some pupils can be incredibly annoying, so writing this book was sort of cathartic.”

Mr Games would not reveal which school he worked in.
