Literary loving youngsters and parents enjoyed an afternoon with the illustrator of the Gruffalo.
Axel Scheffler visited the Richmond Society on Saturday, September 13, to read and draw from the favourite children’s story.
More than 400 people enjoyed the talk, at which Mr Scheffler also drew and read from the Scarecrows’ Wedding before finishing the afternoon with the Highway Rat.
Professor Ian Bruce, chairman of the Richmond Society, said: "We were delighted how popular the meeting was and very grateful to Axel for not only entertaining a rapt audience, but also for spending two-and-a-half hours signing the children's books and including an original drawing in each child's copy."
The mayor of Richmond Councillor Jane Boulton told attendees about the mayoral robes, which she wore especially for the children.
