The job of a gardener who maintains the idyllic tranquillity of Barnes Pond and the common has been saved by a funding boost.
Chestertons estate agent has agreed to support the funding of the Barnes Common keeper post in partnership with the Barnes Community Association and Richmond Council.
Common keeper Russell Greaves, who previously worked at the Wetland Centre, maintains Barnes Common and keeps the pond area.
Chris Carney, manager of Chestertons in Barnes, said: "Barnes Pond is a focal point on the map in Barnes and provides a great space for people to enjoy and take in the natural wildlife that lives in and around the pond.
"Russell does an excellent job of preserving and growing this idyllic landscape."
