1983: For the first time in 20 years a member of the Chiswick St Michael's Guide Company has been awarded the Queen's Guide Badge. Fifteen years old Monika Czjkowska of The Quay, Chiswick is the second recipient the company has ever received. She is pictured here surrounded by fellow guides and brownies wishing her well with the special award. Making the presentation was Mrs B Friend, the Brentford and Chiswick district commissioner. Also present were Miss M Fletcher, local guide president, district commissioner Mrs Moffatt-Roberts, Gunnersbury district commissioner Miss B Barden, former guide guider, Monicka's mother, father, brother, godmother and grandmother, plus the 11th Chiswick (St Michael's) Brownie Pack, of which Monika was a member and pack leader for a year and its guider Miss S J Riley. In the photograph Monika holds aloft a special cake she baked the mark the occasion.
