Trial hope after baby death

The parents of a baby killed at a hospital by a runaway doctor have spoken of their grief after a hearing into the doctor's lethal actions concluded in his absence.

Vladan Visnjevac, of Carrington Road, Richmond, who is thought to have fled to Bosnia has been banned from working in the UK again and will be struck from the General Medical Council's register.

Failed attempts to extradite, Visnjevac mean that he has yet to account for his actions in court following the death of Hollie-Hope Dinning at St Peter's Hospital in Chertsey.

Hollie-Hope's parents, Jim and Tracey, welcomed the decision to ban him and issued a joint statement on Friday, April 25, which read: "This has brought back into our day-to-day lives the grief and loss of Hollie-Hope, our beautiful baby girl.

"The decision has not ended this awful episode in our lives, as we are expecting an inquest to be held later this year, and hope that one day Visnjevac will be brought to trial, to account for his devastating actions."

The doctor was arrested for manslaughter two months after the death of Hollie, who died from head injuries after Visnjevac was said to have made three unsuccessful attempts to deliver the baby in 2002 and repeatedly removed and reapplied forceps to her head.

Surrey Police said it had conducted a thorough investigation into the death of Hollie-Hope and an arrest warrant has been issued.
