A burglar was foiled in his attempt to steal a plasma TV after being spotted by a vigilant resident.

On Wednesday, November 29, at approximately 5.10pm, a resident of Willis Crescent was returning home.

He drove into his driveway when he noticed a man crouching down beside a large plasma TV set.

Realising he had been spotted the man stood up and jumped over a gate into the rear gardens and ran off. The resident immediately phoned the police. When they arrived they discovered the TV leaning against a fence with a crowbar and a pair of rubber gloves.

The man is described as black, 22 years old, wearing grey sports clothes with a hoodie over his face. He may have been with a white male 25-year-old of slim build, wearing a blue jacket and sports hoodie.
