A 28-year-old known as "Monster" was behind bars today for his part in a plot to sell almost £9m of heroin.

Wayne McFarlane, of Southern Avenue, Feltham, was jailed for eight years after admitting two counts of possession with intent to supply the Class A drug.

The court heard how McFarlane teamed up with Marlene Nkore, 23, a personal trainer, of Bridge Road, Wembley.

The pair, who knew each other from the gym where Nkore worked, were caught after McFarlane was found with three kilos of heroin in a carrier bag after leaving Nkore's home in May this year. He had been under police surveillance.

Detectives swooped on Nkore's Wembley flat where they uncovered more of the class A drug, worth £8,824,200, scales and a machine for compressing the drug into blocks.

The pair were jailed for a total of 10.5 years at Snaresbrook Crown Court today.

Nkore was sentenced to two-and-a-half years behind bars after admitting one count of posession with intent to supply the drug. McFarlane received a three-year sentence for the first count of three kilos and five years for the second count of 75 kilos, to run concurrently.

Detective Inspector Colin Stephenson, of the Serious and Organised Crime Command, said: “The Met is committed to tackling anyone involved in drugs supply.

"This operation successfully removed a major consignment of class A drugs from the streets of London and has made a significant dent in the availability of heroin across the capital. Seizures of this scale prevent criminals from profiting and in turn, impact the wider harm that comes from the illegal drugs trade.”
