Brace yourself - the Met Office is warning that more torrential downpours are on the way.

The risk of extremely heavy rain - where up to four inches could fall in a short period - thunder and lightning is greatest in eastern parts of England.

Other areas at risk include south-west England and eastern parts of Wales, where there could be two inches of rain.

The heavy rainfall could cause dangerous driving conditions at the start of the first weekend getaway of the school summer holidays.
