First World War tank in Chiswick Can readers help with this photograph? John Thurlow might be the little boy in the photograph of a World War I tank which was sited on the corner of Chiswick High Road and Sutton Lane North. The lady in the photograph might be his aunt, née Smythe and the photo might have been taken in the 1920s. That is a lot of mights' and John would be interested to know more. Now 80 and living in Buckinghamshire, he will be known to older readers for his family's men's outfitters Arthur Thurlow, founded by his father. The business served customers for more than 50 years in Odeon Parade, Isleworth, Lampton Road, Hounslow and Station Road. John lived with his family in Harewood Road, Isleworth and went to school in Hammersmith. Before he was born his family also lived in Sandycombe Road, Kew and by the tram depot opposite Prebend Mansions.
