An Epsom businessman has been arrested on suspicion of fraudulently claiming £60,000 in VAT repayments.
A residential property in Epsom and a business premises in Leatherhead were searched by HMRC and their investigations are ongoing.
Bob Gaiger, spokesman for HM Revenue & Customs, said: “We urge people to work more closely with us in the fight against VAT fraud and encourage people aware of anyone involved in this type of crime to contact the Customs Hotline 0800 59 5000 or email customs.hotline@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk.”
The arrested man, who has not been named, has been bailed until April 27.
