Independent food businesses could be eligible for a 20 per cent discount in stall rates if they have a stand at the official Rugby World Cup fanzone.
Richmond Council awarded the contract for the fanzone at Old Deer Park, Richmond, to Underbelly earlier this week.
The fanzone will hold about 10,000 people and food traders applying for the event are asked to demonstrate they can produce and serve high quality food in large volumes.
A limited number of local traders will be able to benefit from a 20 per cent discount.
Councillor Pamela Fleming, council cabinet member for environment, communities and business, said: "Whilst the Fanzone must always be economically viable, we are keen that local food traders are given the opportunity to apply.
"They will receive commercial rates more favourable to those businesses outside the borough."
The fanzone is anticipated to have an overall capacity of 10,000 people, with a large tent, big screen, stage and entertainment for 5,000.
